After years of collaborating with teachers, school leaders, schools and organisations in Ireland and across Europe I finally plucked up the courage to formalise my services. My name is Donal O Reilly and I am the founder of EDUDOR. Why didn't I do this sooner I ask myself. Simply because of 'Imposter Syndrome' (yes, its a real thing!). I feel that I am a confident person, and certainly give that impression to others, but inside I am full of self doubt and anxiety. I get excited about educational projects and have never thought twice about accepting an invitation to collaborate, present or facilitate training events. Following the initial excitement I usually suffer weeks and months of worrying about why I said 'Yes' and how I will ever get through it. I have often contemplated contacting organisers to withdraw but couldn't let them down either. Procrastination used to take up my time and affected my productivity and wellbeing. The biggest challenge for me was that up until a few years ago I didn't know what was 'wrong' with me because I wasn't able to name it. Of course there was nothing 'wrong' with me but I did need to face up to the reality of my situation before I could even begin to address it. Through my coaching training I was supported in my journey of self reflection. I was able to allow myself the time and space to reflect and support myself. Today I manage myself better and consider opportunities before making commitments. Now, my decisions are deliberate and value based. I have less stress in my work and personal life. I look forward to sharing my learning, working with colleagues, and supporting teachers, school leaders and organisations on their journey. #newbeginnings #coaching #wellbeing
